Product description

More copper for the multi-chip miners: the AXP90 Copper Pro is a Thermalright AXP90-X47 Full, the very model that comes fitted on the NerdQaxe Copper Pro. On the Full version the base plate (C1100 copper), the four 6 mm heat pipes and the entire fin stack are all copper. On top sits a slim 92 mm TL-9015R fan with PWM control. Together the cooler weighs 520 grams and measures 95 × 94.5 × 47 mm including the fan.

It is made for the NerdQaxe ++ and the NerdOctaxe. There it takes the place of the stock cooling and gives the BM1370 chips considerably more mass and surface to absorb heat and release it. That buys you distance from the temperature limit: in continuous operation, in a warm room or when you raise frequency and voltage in AxeOS. The cooler does not add hashrate by itself; it creates the headroom for it. Thermal paste and the Thermalright mounting kit are included.

The AXP90 is not suitable for the Bitaxe Gamma, Nerdaxe Gamma or Nerdaxe Gaia. Those boards power their fan with 5 volts, while the Thermalright fan is built for 12 volts: it spins too slowly there and the miner overheats. For the Bitaxe Gamma and Nerdaxe Gaia, the smaller AXP60 Copper Pro is the right choice.

Frequently asked questions about AXP90 Copper Pro

Which miners does the AXP90 Copper Pro fit?
The NerdQaxe ++ and the NerdOctaxe. This exact cooler comes fitted on the NerdQaxe Copper Pro, which is built on the NerdQaxe ++ board.
Does it also fit the Bitaxe Gamma, Nerdaxe Gamma or Nerdaxe Gaia?
No. These three miners power their fan with 5 volts. The TL-9015R is a 12-volt fan and spins far too slowly there, so the miner overheats. The Bitaxe Gamma and Nerdaxe Gaia get the AXP60 Copper Pro, the Nerdaxe Gamma the ICE Tower Low Profile Kit.
What does “Full” mean on the AXP90-X47?
Full is the all-copper version: base plate, heat pipes and fins are entirely copper. More copper means more mass to absorb heat spikes before the fan has to spin up.
How loud is the fan?
Thermalright rates the TL-9015R at no more than 22.4 dB(A) at a maximum of 2,700 rpm and 42.58 CFM. On the miner the result depends on fan curve, load and placement; we have no measurement of our own and therefore do not quote one.
Does the cooler add hashrate?
Not by itself. Hashrate is set by frequency and voltage in AxeOS. The AXP90 keeps the chips cooler and so gives you headroom to clock higher or to hold the clock steady in summer too. Our AxeOS tuning guide shows how to go about it in small steps.
What is in the box?
The cooler with the TL-9015R 92 mm fan, thermal paste and the Thermalright mounting kit. The swap needs no soldering or drilling.
AXP90 or AXP60?
Your miner decides. The AXP60 Copper Pro with 210 g of copper, two heat pipes and a 60 mm fan is built for the Bitaxe Gamma and Nerdaxe Gaia. The AXP90 is the large version with four heat pipes, a 92 mm fan and 520 g for the NerdQaxe ++ and NerdOctaxe.
